Has anyone seen the two op-eds in today's New York Times? Tom Brokaw's favorite Republican hack, Alex Castellanos, got top billing with the following: "Finally, An Authentic G.O,P." (http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/05/opinion/05castellanos.html?_r=1&ref=opinion). According to him, the Republicans won in Virginia and New Jersey because they didn't hide their conservatism and this election was a big rebuke of Obama. Of course, everyone else in the world says the exact opposite.
In fact, at the bottom of the same page, Gail Collins does just that in "Hark! The Voters Speak!" (http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/05/opinion/05collins.html?ref=opinion). She makes it clear that the gubernatorial results were anything but a rebuke of Obama: "It all worked out great, and I hope Obama has gotten the message. Really, he had better shape up and completely transform the way Washington works before the next election. Otherwise, another governor’s head could roll." Why didn't the Times print Collins's article only and tell Castellanos to just shut up?
